ACADEMIC SOCIETY

University of Santo Tomas Medicine Academic Society (USTMAS) was started because of the collective idea of bright young minds. It is an organization founded in 2016 by notable medical students in order to encourage academic excellence of their fellow UST Medicine students. Its primary objective is to uphold excellence and represent UST Medicine in different academic activities and competitions locally and internationally. It has developed students’ academic excellence through joining academic quiz contests and eventually expanding to participating in clinico-pathological conferences and medical debate. In recent years, with the collective efforts of its members the society has grown into being the forefront academic organization of UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in academic competitions. In the future, the organization envisions to include all medical students in its goal of achieving academic excellence for everyone. 

Since the start of COVID-19 pandemic, the organization continues to provide social and academic support to its members such as study tips through online platforms. It consistently tries to encourage people to join the society and be part of the selected students who will represent UST-FMS in competitions here and abroad.
